Hi!

 

I am a wife, a mother, a teacher and an aspirant story teller. I am originally from Nicaragua and  out of my 11 years living abroad seven of those I have lived in China. Being so far from your homeland, adapting to a new different culture can bring greater challenges for anyone. Settling in China where language is one of the biggest barriers for many expats, the adjusting phase can take some time. However, experiencing life in China is one of a kind!

 

Even though leaving home was hard for me, I am very grateful of the opportunity to have lived in South America and now in Asia. Not only has it been enriching to experience different cultures but gratifying in terms of the people I’ve met. People’s unique experiences are a great source for unique stories. Over my time in China, I have had the opportunity of meeting interesting people with amazing stories of their achievements and challenges here. It is with this idea that I have gotten inspired to learn more about them and tell their anecdotes in the best way I can.

 

I believe the more we know from each other the better connected we are, that we are no totally isolated by the big cultural or language gap, that someone out there may also share my same struggles or successes. And to honor the strength and the courage that runs through our veins I have dedicated this blog to the many Latinos and other amazing people I’ve had the privilege to know.

Soy Eloisa, madre, esposa, maestra y con muchas ganas de contar historias. Soy nicaragüense y de los 11 años que he vivido fuera de mi país, siete de ellos han sido en China. Mudarte a un país muy lejano y adaptarse a una nueva cultura e idioma conlleva retos gigantes. Muy es el caso de quienes se mueven a China donde uno de los mayores desafíos para cualquier extranjero es el idioma. Sin embargo, las experiencias enriquecedoras que te llevas consigo son invaluables.

 

Aunque dejar mi país fue una decisión difícil, ahora me siento agradecida por la oportunidad de haber vivido en Suramérica y hoy en Asia; tanto por los grandes aprendizajes y contacto con diferentes culturas como por la calidad de personas que he llegado a conocer durante este trayecto. Las vivencias particulares de las personas son fuentes de historias únicas. Durante los años que he vivido en China, he tenido el privilegio de conocer a tantas personas interesantes con historias muy interesantes sobre sus retos o logros aquí. E inspirada por ellas me he motivado a continuar conociéndoles, aprender de ellos y contar sus historias de la manera más fiel posible.

 

 Pienso que mientras más nos conozcamos entre sí, mejor conectados estaremos. Quizás la distancia y el aislamiento cultural que sentimos cuando arribamos a este país sea minimizada por estas conexiones. Que en algún lugar de este vasto país, alguien también vive mis mismos desafíos, dificultades o logros. Y en honor a esa fuerza interna que corre por nuestras venas, dedico este blog a los muchos Latinos y toda esa gente admirable que he tenido el privilegio de conocer.
